Around Efail Isaf: the Community Route

The community route which runs beside the Church Village bypass makes an easy circular walk from Efail Isaf of about three miles.  The trees and shrubs planted to fit with the environment and the views over the rough grazing of the Llantwit Fardre marshland (a SINC) make it enjoyable.  The colours of the landscape are subtle: pale heather purples and tans mingle.

At this time of the year, thistle-down is blowing and grasses have seeded, blackberries are at their best, and this year the rowan is excellent.  Motorists see little, whizzing by.

The tarmac path has plenty of users, with dog-walkers, commuting cyclists among the general public sharing it.  An exemplar for the Welsh Active Travel Act. Horse-riding is not allowed, as usual.

I like taking photos to make up my calendars for the next year.  On this walk, there were geese making a stopover among the sheep at Cwm Isaf farm.
