A knock on the door, and it’s David the local Beekeeper (he also used to do the tastiest fish’n’chips before he retired). A swarm of bees has decided to form an amazing dense hanging mass in our magnolia tree (it’s on the right in the photo).
Lots of bees flying about. It’s unusual at this time of year, I’m told, and the height suggests a primary swarm. David has collected it, and this evening the bees are settling.
This is the third year that our magnolia has flowered twice – and it sets seed too.
